I'm currently living in Moldova; during the last election, the current Communist party was re-elected, so I've been following regional events carefully. I've just heard the news about another (so far) peaceful revolution, this time in the country of Kyrgyzstan. BBC is comparing the events today with recent events in Ukraine and Georgia.
Why does revolution happen when it does, where it does?
Is revolution predictable, based on economics, or access to information? Must it begin from within, or are external forces more at work here? Are these regional transformations even connected? We need answers to these critical questions.
Perhaps a new meme is evolving, a meme which enables people both to recognize corruption, and to generate the action necessary for reform.
If so, I hope the US gets infected soon.
